Altamas Kabir new CJI

Senior Judge of the Supreme Court Altmas Kabir has taken over as the Chief Justice of the world largest democracy, India. Altamas started his career becoming an advocate in 1973 and practiced civil  and criminal law in Kolkata courts. He became a permanent judge in the Calcutta High Court in 1990. In 2005 he was elevated to the rank of High Court Chief Justice and appointed at Jharkhand High Court . He became a judge of the Supreme Court of India on 9 September 2012 he became the 39th Chief Justice of India succeeding SH Kapdia.
